As in 2001 some Heubacher mountainbiker made
the offer to the mayor to accomplish a hobby mountain bike race in Heubach, no one suspected that already three years later a federal league race with E1 status
(the highest classification) will be accomplished. Even if the two hobby races in 2001 and 2002 suggested some more because of great athletes and lots of
spectators, the festival in 2003 exceeded all expectations. Approx 700 sportsmen, 10.000 spectators and enthusiastic words in the press are the true facts. The
special feeling is opened however only for one that locally feels the pulsating tension and the inspiring ability of all presents.This event shows that the slogan “more than a race“ is more than just a fake. Kid’s theatre, bambini race, clown or culinary delights at its finest make this event a mountain bike event of the highest class.
In the following years 2004 and 2005 the event could be further developed. In the meantime we do enjoy a very good reputation with sportsmen, teams, functionaries, press and spectators. So it is no surprise that we received in 2006 the HC-Status (honour-status), lent by the cycle racing world union (UCI). This means a higher prize money and more points of world rank list for the professional drivers.
Also in 2007 and 2008 the BiketheRock received this honour status. Besides Heubach there are only two further cities world wide which likewise got this HC-Status lent of the UCI.
In addition to the German championship in trial in the years 2006 and 2007, this year Heubach will host the European championship in trial. Thus the program of the “BiketheRock” was extended by a further goodies. To fill up the last facets of mountain bike sport a downhill race for amateur drivers was introduced last year. As distance serves the departure part of the Cross country trail of the license drivers.
Thus there is an equally extensive program for hobby and pro-sportsman offered in Heubach.
